Truman is an insurance salesman. He has lived in this cute little town his entire life. The town seems literally perfect. He then begins to notice that odd things are going on in his environment. Suddenly, he realizes that his entire life is a reality TV show. The town actually doesn't exist in real life, it's just a huge filming set that has more than 3000 cameras that secretly film him all over the place. His wife is not his wife, his friends are not his friends, they are all actors. The entire world has been watching him from his birth. Sounds terrible, doesn't it? The show's name is "The Truman Show". Hell, even the sun andthe moon are fake! Watch the movie and see what happened!

Generally Speaking:
This movie is fantastic! It has everything inside it: comedy, tragedy, mystery, and everything is properly balanced out. Jim is a great actor and I feel free to say that this is one of the best roles he hasever played! Just imagine finding out, after years, that your entirelife is fake?! This movie made me laugh, cry and it also gave me thechills! I was freaked out at how far we humans are able to go because of money. They exploited Truman, he was something likea slave to them.

This movie is a good example that every person has certain rights. To take away somebody's freedom, knowledge of freedom or even worse, to do something like they did to Truman is terrible. These things should never happen! Fuck money, and fuck TV.Life is more valuable than this. Watch this movie, you will not regret it.

A son tries to find out more about his dying father. He recalls all the stories his father told him about his life and travelling. Then the son wonders: can these abnormal and extraordinary stories be true? This movie is not like most movies by Tim Burton. This one is not dark. Instead, it's so humane and full of understanding and fantasy that I am sure you will enjoy it. I have taken the liberty to provide you a trailer from YouTube:

Now, what puzzles me the most is the fact that, at the end of the movie, you still don't know if the father was telling the truth or not. It makes you wonder about the mysteries of life and everything around it.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

This movie is hilarious! And I mean it... seriously!
As a very unusual comedy, my first impression of the first 10 minutes of the movie was: "What the hell is this? Are they serious?!" However, I kept on watching and I was glad I did not give up on the movie. Since this motion picture is partially from the UK, there is a dose of the typical black English humor.

A guy, Arthur Dent, wakes up in the morning and discovers that his friend is actually an alien. This alien has an advance knowledge of when Earth is going to be destroyed. All of a sudden, the alien and Arthur transport themselves to a space ship seconds before Earth is destroyed. They set off on an amazing adventure... watch the movie and find out! They set off to find out the meaning of the purpose of life. Well, try to imagine how that went? :)

The details in this movie are amazing! There are so many funny moments that you won't be able to stop laughing during almost the entire movie.

The visuals are great.
The actors are great.
The story is perhaps a little bit confusing in some parts, but who cares! The point of this movie is to be ridiculous, and not smart! If you don't watch this, you will miss out on a lot of fun. This is a movie for friends and family, not for depressive people who are searching for a purpose in very intellectual movies. Go! Run along to the first video store or grab the first most seeded torrent you can find and watch this movie!

There's nothing much to say.

Director: Tom Shadyac
Writers: Patch Adams, Maureen Mylander
Actors: Robin Williams, Daniel London, Monica Potter
Runtime: 115 minutes
From: USA

This movie is based on a true story. Patch Adams actually existed. I am not going to write much about this movie. It's really specific and if I say too much, I might ruin it for you.

This film is something beautiful. I think that, no matter what kind of genre someone prefers, this movie is destined to touch really deep into our souls.

Patch Adams was a guy who had a wonderful vision: he wanted to open a medical facility that would provide treatment to people for free. He actually managed to pull it off, until he was busted. He went to court, his college wanted to throw him out. I won't tell you what happened, go and watch the movie.

The story is wonderful. Everything is there: comedy, tragedy, reflection, many emotions put together in one box. No, the crew did not exaggerate. Every single feeling is packed neatly and properly into the plot. The movie is not fast, but it also is not slow. A perfect balance exists among all elements.

Robin Williams did a terrific job in this movie. He was witty, as always. He also showed the world that he can play sad roles, besides funny ones. He managed to produce a vision of a person who really believed that people should be treated through doctor-patient attachment (on a friendly level) and that doctors should not treat their patients as things.

Watch this movie. You will miss out something great and humane if you don't.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)

Director: David Fincher
Writers: Eric Roth
Actors: Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton
Runtime: 166 minutes
From: USA

Ladies and gentlemen, if you have not watched this movie yet then I don't know what you're waiting for. This is a drama that suits everyone, except maybe people who are so into bloody movies that they just cannot imagine themselves watching something precious like this.
I'm not going to write much about this baby, because there is nothing much to say except that it is perfect.
The Plot:

Ah, now my fellow bloggers and readers: the plot is the most interesting thing about this movie! Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt) is a man who was born as an old man. With this specific disease, he ages backwards. He is born as an old man, and he will die as a baby. Unusual? Yes, very. Through the movie, he goes through many interesting things and he falls in love. But will he be able to stay with the woman he loves all along because of his disease? Because of the vice versa aging between them? Take a look and find out.

If you don't watch this movie, I guarantee that you will miss out on a great story. I think that every person can pull out something from the subliminal messages of this movie. So much from me. I won't write about it anymore, I'm afraid I will ruin it.

                                    Bruce Almighty (2003)

Director: Tom Shadyac
Writers: Steve Koren, Mark O'Keefe
Actors: Jim Carey, Jennifer Aniston, Morgan Freeman

This is a cute little movie, very easy to watch. Well, you don't have to be Einstein to understand it. It's not perfect, but it's cute. As a comedy, though: it's excellent! Jim Carey did a marvelous job, once again. If you want to watch an entertaining movie with your friends or family, then this is the one you should choose! The story is interesting too, it's not some classical thing about a funny geek in high school or a funny family man that has a bunch of kids. It's smart, sort to speak.

The Plot:
Jim Carey plays a guy who is trying to be an anchor on the main news on TV. However, the stories he does are not the headline stories. In fact, they are the last reports you see, right after the weather: funny things that happen to ordinary people. He often complains about God. He has a pretty good life though, a nice girlfriend who wants to marry him and have children, a stable job and a stable life. But he is not satisfied. He constantly "insults" God, in a way. Suddenly, he actually meets God (Morgan Freeman) and God decides to transfer upon him all his almighty powers while he goes on vacation. God did this to teach this guy a lesson: it is not so easy to be God. Actually, it is very difficult. Then the guy uses these powers to tamper with his life. He sets himself up an anchor job. He starts to hear prayers at night and in the morning. This almost drives him nuts. He then realizes that God's job is horribly difficult. Watch the movie, and see what happens in the end! I never include spoilers, and you know that if you are a fan of my reviews.

The Acting:
Jim is a great comedian, especially because he improvises a lot. Usually, comedies rarely make me laugh. This one made me roar, cry and shriek from laughter at the same time! It's a BIG DEAL when I say that a movie made me laugh, so you have to trust me on this one. Jim was perfect, especially when he starts to play with God's powers. There are scenes that will make you cry and pee from laughter. The grimaces he makes are unique and hilarious.
Morgan Freeman was very interesting to watch, as God. I never could picture him playing God or something similar, until I saw this movie. He was excellent, very witty, soothing and calm. He was exactly like God should be. He is a great actor and roles like this suit him the best.
Jennifer Aniston, on the other hand... well... I am not too fond of her. She's not bad, but she has a lot to go to reach perfection. When I watch her, it seems like she has the same "acting pattern" in every movie. In fact, I have only seen her in movies like these, or romantic movies, so I don't think she's very flexible. But all in all, she wasn't bad. I would say: "half a thumb up." On a scale from 1 to 10, I would give her a 7. That's good to get from a strict reviewer like me! :D

About The Plot:
The story is good. The idea was excellent, except for one thing: they started the movie well, but I feel like they maybe lost themselves somewhere near the end. I will not tell you why, because then I will have to include spoilers, and I don't want to do that. I'll just say: they were focused until the last 20 minutes of the movie. These last 20 minutes seem like the director's mind blurred for some reason. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it's on purpose.

Audio And Visual Effects:
There's nothing much to say about this. The visuals are good, when the guy is doing "magic" things, using God's power, the effects look solid and good. Although the movie is not focused on the effects at all, so like I said: there's nothing much to say,
The sounds are good. I mean, the sounds that go with the effects are pretty good. However, the soundtrack only has two or three songs that I can remember, some old-timers that everybody knows. The rest of the soundtrack is so "Hollywood comedy" typical that I cannot even remember. I could not remember it if somebody played it to me right now.
Generally Speaking:
If you want to have fun with your friends and family, or if you are feeling bad and want to laugh like a madman, then this is the perfect movie for you. However, if you are one of those people who think that comedies are useless and a waste of time, then don't watch it. If you are very religious, then this movie MIGHT BE a little bit offensive. You might find it insulting that God transferred his powers to such a bitchy guy who did not even respect him. But I must say, God is more like a teacher in this movie. He teaches a subject called "proper life". That's what's good about the whole parody. The subliminal message is worth understanding.

Director: Robert Stevenson

Actors: Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, David Tomlinson
Runtime: 139 minutes
From: USA

This is an example of a perfect, pleasant and cute little family movie. So if you do not like these kinds of movies, go and read another one of my reviews: this movie is not for you.
Instead, if you like this kind of thing, then you are on the right page. Allow me to tell you all about this movie that you should know, but don't worry! My reviews NEVER include spoilers.

The Plot:
Marry Poppins (Julie Andrews) is the perfect nanny. Jane and Michael are two kids who are impossible to control. They chased off a thousand nannies. Their father is very strict while their mother is a feminist and she is very liberal. This causes two different views on life to clash in front of the eyes of the children. The kids don't know what to do! They seek attention from their father, but he plays the strict teacher role, works at his precious bank till 8 PM and doesn't notice them. Well, at least not in the way they want him to notice them. Marry Poppins then arrives and many things change. Watch the movie to find out what happens!

General View On The Plot:
Now, this story is the perfect example how a person is able to change another person without too much effort. It's also an example of how important a parent is to a child, sometimes so important that if the child does not get enough attention: he/she will cause problems in order to be noticed. I recommend this movie to families, because it might remind them of how important good family relations are.

Audio And Visual Effects:
I beg of you to keep in mind that this movie was filmed in the 60s!!! Do not expect effects that you see in today's action movies. However, the effects are fantastic for that period of time. The skylines of old London are beautiful, the colors are fascinating and there is a particular part of the movie where the main characters enter a cartoon. Those effects were done fantastically too!
This movie is also a kind of musical. The soundtrack is one of the most beautiful soundtracks I have ever heard. Julie Andrews "sealed the deal" with her beautiful and original voice. This soundtrack contains some very famous songs. The lyrics and the melodies are perfect, they go along very well with the story.

The Acting:
Well, like you know, Julie Andrews is practically perfect! Her acting is wonderful as it is, but this role of a nanny suited her very well, like a silk glove on a lady's hand. Dick Van Dyke and Tom Hamlinton are two shiny shooting stars as well. It is obvious that the whole cast was selected and hand-picked into a wonderful group of fascinating and witty actors. Unlike movies today, where anybody can act, this one is sophisticated and very professional.

Generally Speaking:

If you want to relax and get in touch with your inner child, then this is a movie for you. If you let your child watch this masterpiece, he/she will remember it for the rest of their life. I swear! I watched this movie when I was very little and I will never forget it because I loved it so much and it was indescribably beautiful. The same thing will happen to your child. Watch it in the warmth of your home, you won' regret it.

Based on a novel by Irvine Welsh (click here to see who he is)
Runtime: 94 minutes

PLOT: Renton, a heroin addict, is trying to fight off his addiction. However, he can't keep away from the heroin. All of his friends are addicts too. He then decides to change his life, and a series of unusual events happen.

Trainspotting is one of my favorite movies, that's why I am reviewing it first.

Unlike other "junkie" movies, Trainspotting perfectly presents the lives of addicts and what they have to deal with every day. I have spoken to a few former heroin addicts. They have all watched the movie and confirmed to me that it does not lie . Thanks to an excellent set of actors, the effect

is properly "installed" into the viewer. In some parts of the movie, their "philosophy" about doing drugs sounds so great that the idea of spiking your vein sounds perfect to you for a moment.

On the other hand, a good camera shows a viewer how "dirty" and "dishonorable" it is to be a junkie.

The soundtrack is excellent, for those of you who enjoy Iggy Pop and similar music. (click here to see the soundtrack) The sounds fit perfectly into each and every scene. I suppose that the person who picked out the songs probably thought hard before choosing anything. It plays a big role in most scenes because it depicts the emotions of the characters perfectly.

Renton, the main character, is also the narrator. I don't support movies with narrators because they usually screw everything up when they decide to have one. However, Ewan McGregor did an outstanding job. He used the perfect tonality and the perfect moments to change his emotions.

The story is great. I can't say that the book was properly "transformed" into a movie because I did not read it. The plot is not boring. It's fast enough for such a story and slow when it is supposed to be. It's not very emotional because the characters aren't. Their emotions are in hibernation because of the drugs. The point of view in the movie is very raw and brutal. It's as if there is no room for emotions. This is not a "sissy" movie. It is not a drama, even though the plot has some elements of it. In some parts you can even feel a little bit of comedy!

All in all, this is definitely a movie that should go on a "MUST SEE" list.

A girl, Jeliza-Rose, lost herself in a fantasy world after her irresponsible parents died.
Her mind created an entire world, where submarines "float" in fields of wheat and dolls talk.

This movie is very controversial. Some would say it is "socially inappropriate", especially because the main character is a child. There are some scenes in the movie that are really obscene, while others are fragile and sentimental.

This is not an easy movie. If you think you can watch it while you're ironing your clothes or while you're sorting out your photographs, then you are terribly wrong. This movie requires concentration because the plot is not easy. It is very difficult to tell what is real in the story, and what is not. Later on, it gets easier.

The beginning of the movie is one of the most important parts. It gives the viewer information about the parents and about the child. If you don't follow the story well for the first 15 minutes, you might not be able to understand some things later on. Details are very important in this motion picture.

The soundtrack is not bad, but it is not important. You will be shaken and stirred by the plot and you won't pay attention to the music at all. I think that the Director did this on purpose. If you watched his movie "Brazil", then you probably know what I am talking about. If you didn't, then let me put it this way: The story does not require music because of its obscenity. The soundtrack is unnoticeable because of this.

This movie made me think about children who have survived trauma. What exactly happens inside their heads? I don't think any person knows for sure. There are many children who did the same thing that Jeliza-Rose did. They created their own worlds and their own personalities. Tideland gave me the opportunity to see such a world from the child's point of view. To tell you the truth, it seemed pretty real to me.

This movie is definitely a movie you have to watch before you die!

This is an interesting movie. I could say that it is cyberpunk but I am not going to do that. It has some elements of  regular cyberpunk movies. However, it lacks the specific music, the unusual camera and the "depressive effect" that are unavoidable parts of cyberpunk masterpieces.

The plot is post-apocalyptic. The world has been almost destroyed by a disease. This disease was spread because people didn't use protection and because they were "generally crazy" in the 20th century. A totalitarian government decided to take over everything and people are rigorously controlled. Whoever is suspected of having "the disease" is sent to these places that look like abandoned asylums. There is no cure.

Of course, since this movie has cyberpunk in it, there are a group of people who decided to revolt. They are the rebellion, they fight against the totalitarian rule of "whoever is sick will be deported to the abandoned asylums and we don't care what happens next".

This movie is a good example of how people can actually do wonders if they all join together. It also shows that love can sometimes be stronger than anything, and sometimes it can't. This is not a typical Hollywood fairytale, and the ending is not a "happily ever after". That's what makes this motion picture so excruciating and beautiful at the same time. Moira Kelly and Cuba Gooding Junior did an outstanding job. They have managed to produce characters that are not typically plastic and "action based". Instead, they produced characters that are human. They have feelings, they are not perfect and they are afraid, even though they are trying to rebel.

This is a good movie to watch if you are a person who just began entering the cyberpunk world. It is also a good movie for people who have forgotten the true values of life: freedom, self esteem and equality.
